Offered is this 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 Convertible. A timeless example of American muscle, featuring a 396 cubic inch, fuel-injected big-block V8 paired with a 4-speed Muncie manual transmission and a Hurst shifter for precise control. Sporting an older restoration and finished in striking period correct LeMans Blue (Code 71) paint, this power-top convertible is accented by a black vinyl soft top, enhancing its aggressive yet refined appearance.

For model year 1969, the Chevelle received modest but noticeable changes to it’s design and performance. The grille updated with a single chrome bar dividing it horizontally. The rear clip received redesigned tail lights with a more square, aggressive design. New federal requirements mandated the addition of side marker lights.

For 1969 the Super Sport (SS) 396 was now listed as an available option package (RPO Z25) as opposed to a separate model in 1968.
In 1969 approximately 84,000 Chevelle’s were produced wearing the SS 396 badge, of which only 8,700 were sold as convertibles.

Under the hood the engine boasts an older restoration featuring an Edelbrock Performer 2.0 aluminum intake, Fi-Tech self-tuning fuel injection, Hooker competition headers and Flowmaster mufflers. This combination sounds mean and can back-it-up on the road.
The black interior, complete with bucket seats, black carpeting, dash and door panels offers a driver-focused cockpit true to its era. Upholstery, trim, door cards, dashboard and carpet present with lower than average wear especially on high traffic surfaces. All gauges present in good working condition and are well maintained cosmetically.

With its combination of big-block power, manual transmission, fuel injection and choppy exhaust, this Chevelle represents an exceptional blend of performance and drivability, making it a standout in any collection. Rally wheels, chrome trim and gleaming chrome bumpers complete the look.

This Canadian-built 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 Convertible was factory-delivered as a genuine Super Sport model. Unlike U.S.-assembled Chevelles—where the “SS 396” became an optional package (RPO Z25) in 1969—General Motors of Canada continued to designate the SS as a distinct trim level, available exclusively with the 396 cid big-block V8. The presence of the “L35” engine code on the original Fisher Body tag confirms this car’s authenticity as a true SS 396.

Originally finished in Champagne Gold (Paint Code 63) with a black convertible top, this example has since been refinished in striking Le Mans Blue (Code 71)—a period-correct and highly desirable Chevelle colour. The cabin remains true to its factory specification, featuring black vinyl bucket seats (A51), matching black carpets, centre console (D55), and Astro Ventilation.

Power comes from a professionally rebuilt Chevrolet 396 cid big-block V8, now upgraded with FiTech electronic fuel injection for modern reliability and smooth drivability. The engine retains a mild street-performance camshaft, producing a distinctive, rhythmic idle through a set of Hooker headers. Power is delivered via a Muncie four-speed manual transmission (M20), offering a classic muscle-era driving experience.

Under current ownership, the power convertible top mechanism has been fully serviced, including replacement of the electric motor. The car presents with an immaculate interior, a clean undercarriage, and a strong, responsive drivetrain.

Combining authentic SS provenance, tasteful modern upgrades, and open-air enjoyment, this Chevelle represents an outstanding and approachable entry into classic American muscle—a well-sorted cruiser with the heart of a big-block and room for the whole family beneath the open sky.
